Katya Handt

Set & Costume Design, Forever Now Launch @ MONAFOMA

Katja is a set and costume designer/ maker and artist and has been living and working in Australia since 2002. Most recently she designed Power of One, an interactive exhibition for the Museum of Democracy at Old Parliament House. Other work includes Inner Garden and Box of Birds with De Quincey Co and associate costume designer for Boxwars at Sydney Festival. Katja trained in theatre design at Central Saint Martins College in London but over the years she has worked on a wide range of projects from film, theatre, dance and performance. She has done costume designs for Theatre Kantanka and Legs on the Wall and production designs for shows since 1999 in Sydney and overseas, including work with Artisti Senza Frontiere in Italy and Studiobuehne Berlin.

She has a longstanding relation-ship as an artist and mentor in various disciplines with Shopfront Contemporary and Belvoir Theatre Company’s educational program and also held positions as head costumes props on Fury Road: Mad Max 4 (Sydney Pre Production) and the Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
