Willoh S. Weiland

Willoh S.Weiland is an artist, writer, curator and the Artistic Director of Aphids. Recent Aphids projects include a national tour of Thrashing Without Looking, a live- cinema and performance work experienced through video goggles; Computer Boy, a contemporary performance work commissioned for Performance Space, Sydney; Fever Beach and Exile, interactive digital artworks for the iPhone and iPad and Atelier Edens, a research project co-directed with Thea Baumann, investigating the creation of cross-artform works in remote areas.

Forever Now is the third in trilogy of works investigating the relationships between art and space. Her work Yelling at Stars, was presented at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl as the closing event of the 2008 Next Wave Festival; the Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow and at Less Remote, an art / science symposium running parallel to the 59th International Astronautical Congress. In 2009 she undertook a Synapse residency the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing, Swinburne University of Technology, where she developed the work Void Love: A soap opera about Astrophysics starring Australian crooner and cultural icon Kamahl. Willoh has made work for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, the Next Wave Festival and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.
